Zorzal Nat Cool Graciano is a young, natural and ecological red wine made by Proyecto Zorzal with the Graciano variety in the D.O. Navarra (Spain).
Although Zorzal started in Navarra in 1960 with the aim of showcasing in its wines the maximum expression of old, native variety vines at their best, it keeps up well with everything that goes on in the wine world. Their latest wine, Nat Cool, is evidence of this. This is an innovative project created by intrepid winemaker Dirk Niepoort, where he invites various producers to make light, low-alcohol and easy-to-drink wines. This wine was made through a collaboration between the VZW team and Matías Michelini.
The Zorzal Nat Cool Graciano wine comes from a plot located in Corella, on the Navarra riverbanks. Ecological agriculture is used here and, given that the wine does not reach an alcohol level over 12%, the grapes are harvested manually at the optimum time with a thorough selection process in the vineyard.
When the Zorzal Nat Cool Graciano grapes reach the winery they are destemmed. Then spontaneous fermentation begins with native yeasts in 3000-litre stainless steel and concrete tanks. Finally the wine ages in this same concrete tank for a few months.
Zorzal Nat Cool Graciano was made with the Nat Cool philosophy of “Please do not taste it, just drink it”. A light, low-alcohol, easy-to-drink wine that is begging to be opened.
Proyecto Zorzal is one of the most interesting wineries in Navarre. Parting from an innovative style, vines treated with care, and a very well-kept aesthetic, Viña Zorzal gains more followers each day. Without any doubt, a breath of fresh air for the Spanish winemaking scene.
