Vodka

Vodka, a traditional drink that remains a symbol of Eastern European culture

Vodka is produced through the fermentation of starch-rich grains, such as wheat, rye or potato. Although Vodka is originally from Poland, it was in Russia where it acquired the fame it enjoys today. The term vodka actually derives from the Russian word for water, vodá. Although Russian vodka is the most famous in the world, it is also produced in many other countries across the globe. In fact, Polish vodka, Swedish vodka and English vodka are some of the best vodkas in the world. In Russia, vodkas are produced with mineral water, purified several times, while the rest of the world produces vodka using distilled water.
