Mauro is a red wine produced by the Mauro winery in Castilla-León. The Mauro winery is a personal project of Mariano García, a winemaker known for being the technical manager of Vega Sicilia for 30 years, and for creating exceptional red wines in Tudela del Duero (Valladolid).Slowely but surely, the Mauro winery and Mariano García have become prominent figures in the Castilla-León region.
Mauro is made using Tempranillo grapes, with a small percentage of Syrah. The grapes come from the Tudela de Duero and Traspinedo estates, where the soil is light, balanced, with a limestone and calcareous clay texture.
As for its production, after being selected, the grapes are put in seperate tanks depending on their type, estate and zone of production. These tanks carry out a convential vinifaction process. After this, Mauro is aged for 16 months in French oak Barrels from Allier and Nevers, and American oak, which is differentely toasted.
It is due to the streng combined with the balance and elegant character of Mauro that this wine has recieved acclaim from critics vintage after vintage.
