About Mauro
Mauro is a red wine crafted in the V. T. Castilla-León by Bodegas Mauro.
Bodegas Mauro is the personal venture of the oenologist Mariano García, renowned for being the technical director of Vega Sicilia for 30 years, and now for producing exceptional red wines in Tudela del Duero (Valladolid).
Gradually, Bodegas Mauro and Mariano García have established themselves as the leading references of V.T Castilla-León. Mauro is made from Tempranillo and a small percentage of Syrah. The grapes come from the Tudela de Duero and Traspinedo estates, whose soils are characterised by being light, well-drained, and having a balanced texture, either limestone or clay-limestone, depending on the plot.
For its production, after a meticulous selection, the grapes are transferred to different tanks according to varieties, estates, and production areas. In these tanks, a conventional vinification will take place, after which Mauro will undergo 16 months of ageing in French oak barrels from Allier and Nevers, and American oak barrels of different toasts.
The combined strength with balance and elegance characterises Mauro, which year after year has received acclaim from specialised critics.
