Wine from winery 4 Kilos
Discover the best wines produced by the 4 Kilos winery
In Mallorca, in 2006, Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero created 4Kilos Vinícola (the name comes from the initial investment made by its two partners in pesetas: 4 million pesetas). This winery produces wines that reflect the strength of the grape and its nuances, but with a different approach and presentation. The labeling is spectacular, unique and different.

More about 4 Kilos
Francesc Grimalt is an oenologist, known for having rescued the native grape variety Callet in the Balearic wine scene. Sergio Caballero is a musician, the founding partner and co-director of the festival of advanced music and multimedia art SÓNAR, for which he is in charge of its image.
His work at the winery changes every year, depending on the type of harvest. First, they select the grapes by hand when they enter the winery. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation can be carried out both in oak and stainless steel. The duration of the ageing in wood, the type of oak, the capacity of the barrels and their age can vary according to the vintage. The winery’s viticultural concept is the comprised of vine-soil-climate-viticulturist. In many vineyards, they use the native pant cover to obtain more concentrated grapes, better soil porosity and a greater microbiological population.
At the end of September 2006, in the garage of a viticulturist friend, with few means but with a marvelous grape, they made their first wine production: 4 Kilos 2006.
In 2007, together with Apolónia Viticultors (Balearic agrarian society), they converted an old sheep barn located in the outskirts of Felanitx into a small winery. There, they were able to carry out the harvest of 4 Kilos 2007 and their new project: 12 Volts 2007.
With the 2009 harvest, Gallinas y Focas was born. This wine has a lot of effort put into it, as a result of the collaboration of the winery with Amadip Esment, an organisation created so that people with intellectual disabilities and their families can enjoy and improve their quality of life and have the same opportunities as all citizens.
The winery’s latest project is Grimalt Caballero, a very personal and direct way of understanding the native variety Callet.
