About Mauro Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja
Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja is a red wine from an estate produced by Bodegas Mauro in Castilla y León at the hands of Mariano García, known as oenologist for Vega Sicilia for almost thirty years.
Terreus is a single variety Tempranillo, grown in a small instalment, barely three hectares, where the vines are old and planted in loose sandy-clay soil.
Bodegas Mauro practices an ecological agriculture without using any type of herbicide with a maximum respect for the local faunas and the nature reserves of the vineyard.
The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are transported to the winery in small 15kg crates.
Once in the winery, a careful selection is performed in order to discard the bunches that are not in good condition.
Once they have been selected, the grapes are transferred by gravity to the deposits where they undergo a fermentation with local yeasts from their own vines.
After fermentation, there is a maceration for two or three weeks.
Terreus undergoes an aging for 33 months in French oak barrels that supports the fineness and exceptional harmony.
We recommend that you decant a few hours before enjoying.
One of the great wines from Castilla y León. Intense, powerful and very fruity. A single estate wine, exceptional, from the hands of a great master.

2011 | On the palate it is a powerful wine with a great attack and a lot of flavour. Fruity and expression of terroir nuanced by toasted notes from the barrel. Docile tannins. A very long and persistent finish. Picota cherry colour with violet reflections and garnet rim. Clean and bright. Great intensity on the nose. Minerality with a great aromatic range. Ripe black fruit, spices, liquorice and rosemary. |

2010 | On the palate this wine is powerful, energetic and broad. It shows bulky attack and is clean on the palate, with fine and tasty tannins and a magnificent acidity. Long and very persistent finish. Picota cherry colour with violet reflections and maroon edges. Clean and bright. Deliciously intense. This wine exudes an almost perfect balance between liqueur-like ripe black fruit and sublime notes of fine woods. Spicy touches gradually appear, along with liquorice, balsamic notes, rosemary, flowers, violets and mineral notes. |
