Maison Orcia Côtes du Rhône Rouge Bio 2020 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red fruit, notes of violets and hints of spice. The palate has presence, freshness and smoothness. A sweet wine with a medium body and a noticeable acidity. The tannins are tight, the mid-palate is pleasant and the finish is subtly spicy.
The French term “négociant” is a concept that originated in Burgundy in monarchical France to describe those who bought wine from landowners and were in charge of aging, blending, shipping and selling it. An intermediary figure between the winegrower and the consumer that still exists today and allows the discovery of exquisite small productions to make them known to wine merchants, sommeliers, restaurateurs and even private buyers. Jean-Philippe Manchès is a passionate young winemaker who tours the best vineyards in France to offer an exciting catalogue that includes several wines carrying the name of his family estate Maison Orcia. A selection of gastronomic, accessible and modern wines that always give a lot of scope.
One of these wines is Maison Orcia Côtes du Rhône Rouge Bio, a red wine made from Red Grenache, Syrah and Carignan varieties. These vines are an average of 30 years old and planted in an exquisite terroir of clay-limestone and pebbles in the AOC Côtes du Rhône. In the vineyard, they use organic agriculture without the use of chemical products that could harm the natural balance of the soil and, once the grapes have been harvested, they are selected and partially destemmed in the winery. The wine then ferments at a controlled temperature and ages for a period of time, half in cement and the other half in barrels.
This is how Maison Orcia Côtes du Rhône Rouge Bio was born, an ambassador of the AOC Côtes du Rhône which, thanks to its freshness, presence and accessibility, becomes a true gourmet wine wherever it goes and celebrates the work of a good négociant.
