Laherte Frères Les Empreintes 2012 is a vintage biodynamic Champagne made with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties by the Laherte Frères winery in Champagne, France.
The Laherte Frères Les Empreintes 2012 Champagne is made under the principles of biodynamic agriculture using the Chardonnay variety, which comes from the “Les Chemins d’Epernay” plot that dates back to 1957 and has clay soils with silts, and the Pinot Noir variety, which comes from the “Les Maisons Rouges” vineyard, which dates back to 1983 and has deep soils composed mainly of clays, stones and shales. Both plots have a calcareous subsoil.
Laherte Frères Les Empreintes 2012, whose name means “Fingerprints”, is the Laherte family’s Cuvée Prestige and is made with an equal parts coupage of each variety that ferment and age in oak barrels without undergoing malolactic fermentation. It is bottled with a 4 g/l dosage and rests in the bottle for three more years before being released.
Laherte Frères was founded in 1889 and has an excellent reputation both within and beyond Champagne. The vineyards are cultivated in traditional way and as naturally as possible under the philosophy that “everything starts in the vineyard”. In the winery they use native yeasts with the aim of making their sparkling wines a true expression of the varieties and the terroir.
