Enate Merlot Merlot is a red wine from the Somontano prepared by the Enate winery.

This winery, one of the benchmarks of this DO, is located in Salas Bajas (Huesca).Enate Merlot Merlot is a single varietal Merlot. The grapes come from vineyards planted at about 550-600 metres above sea level.

The vineyards of the winery are 500ha and are shared by the municipalities of Salas Altas, Salas Bajas, Cregenzán and Basbastro.

For processing, the grapes are de-stemmed first and then a cold maceration is performed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature. Finally the wine is aged for 14 months in barrels.

You can not help but also mention the exceptional wine labels of Enate, artworks as a result of their collaboration with artists such as Eduardo Chillida, Antoni Tàpies and Antonio Saura.

Pictures and situation Enate
Today, the wines of the DO Somontano are characterised by their modernity, elegance and varietal personality. Just like Alsace, Chile, Australia and California, the DO Somontano is able to boast a tempting variety of truly international style white, rosé and red wines. The majority of wines produced in this region are single variety wines, using both native and international grape varieties, produced using varying winemaking techniques. As well as maintaining a high quality of wines, the Somontano region has managed to maintain fair prices in comparison to the competition, despite heavy economic investments by the wineries. Great quality and fair prices have helped wines from the region conquer much of the domestic market and openly compete with international markets.
