Characteristics Borsao Crianza
Borsao Crianza is a barrel-aged red wine made by Borsao in the D.O. Campo de Borja (Aragón) with the Garnacha, Merlot and Tempranillo red varieties.
Founded in 2001 with the merging of three cooperatives in the area, Borsao is a winery specialising in the local reigning variety: Garnacha. Their logo features a horse rider riding around the town of Bursao (former name for Borja), and reflects an adventurous spirit that wants to make a name for itself all around the world.
Borsao Crianza comes from old vines planted on the slopes of the Moncayo massif. These vines are aged between 20 and 40 years old and lie 500-700 metres above sea level and on clay-limestone, stony and silty soils. They use traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, each variety used to make the Borsao Crianza wine is vinified separately. This involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 24 and 28ºC and a maceration that lasts 15 days in total. Finally, the wine ages for 10 months in Bordeaux barrels made of French (90%) and American (10%) oak.
Borsao Crianza is a red wine that perfectly represents a small D.O. with its own identity. Pure Garnacha made in Moncayo.

Others wines Borsao
In a relatively short time, Bodegas Borsao has gone from being one of the examples of the wine growing stagnation of some Aragonese cooperatives, to being among the best examples of a company with an intelligent renovation. Although Bodegas Borsao, founded in 1958, is still a cooperative with more than 400 members who cultivate and control more than 1,500 hectares of vineyard, the new wines not only brought a breath of fresh air to Campo de Borja, but they also meant a new beginning for many other Aragonese wines: modernity.
