Viña Zorzal Señora de las Alturas is a red wine from the DO. Navarra produced by the Bodegas Zorzal in Corella, Navarra. Founded in 1989, the winery focuses on the use of varieties and works under the philosophy that a great wine is made in the vineyard.
The winery currently owns 40 hectares of vineyards close to the municipality of Fitero, in which a soft relief forms a small oasis of vineyards on the lower banks of the Ebro, thus providing a certain of freshness. 25 hectares of the vineyards are home to the Grenache grape variety, while the rest are home to Graciano and Tempranillo, as well as the white variety Garnacha Blanca.
The Grenache vineyard, in Fitero, is over 70 years old while the Graciano vineyard, situated in Corella, is over 40 years old. The harvest is carried out manually.
The production process begins with fermentation in open 500litre French oak barrels. The wine is then decanted into 225litre second use French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, before being aged.
Viña Zorzal Señora de las Alturas is perhaps the most classic and complex wine offered by the winery.
Proyecto Zorzal is one of the most interesting wineries in Navarre. Parting from an innovative style, vines treated with care, and a very well-kept aesthetic, Viña Zorzal gains more followers each day. Without any doubt, a breath of fresh air for the Spanish winemaking scene.
