Valtravieso Finca Santa María is a red wine produced by the winery Valtravieso in the D.O Ribera del Duero.
The winery was founded in 1985 in Pinel de Arriba (Valladolid).
Valtravieso Finca Santa María is produced from the variety Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) (95%) and a touch of Cabernet Sauvginon and Merlot (10%). The grapes originate from vineyards located at 915 meters above sea level, planted in shallow, stony and very chalky soils.
For production the varieties are fermented separately in 10,000 and 20,000 kg stainless steel containers. Each fermentation is performed at 24-26ºC for 10-12 days along with a maceration process for the same time period.
The wine is racked twice before being aged in the barrel.
Lastly, Valtravieso Finca Santa María is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. Once in the bottle it rests for 2 months.
