About Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Gran Reserva
Brut Vintage Gran Reserva is a cava Brut Nature de la D.O. Cava prepared by Segura Viudas. It is a blend of the Macabeo (67%) and Parellada (33%) varieties.
The must for making this cava comes from the most gentle pressing of the grapes. Using only half the must, known as wort flower, the wine is more aromatic and delicate.
The blend comes from ten different wines from the two varieties. These are fermented separately at a temperature between 14º and 16º in order to obtain maximum expression.
Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts from the same vineyards. This cava ages with its lees for at least 36 months.
Finally, the liquor is made with white wine which has fermented for five months in American and French oak barrels. This expedition liqueur carries no added sugar, which makes this be a Brut Nature Cava.
Segura Viudas has created one of the most awarded brands in national and international tastings thanks to its willingness to preserve biodiversity through sustainable viticulture and respect for tradition, combined with the desire for innovation.
2015 | Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Gran Reserva 2015 is a dry sparkling wine (less than 12 g/L of sugar). Aromatically, it is complex and robust, featuring scents of ripe fruits (apple) and citrus, layered over undertones of dried fruits and bakery notes. On the palate, it is flavorful and vivacious, with a creamy fruit presence. The finish is exceedingly pleasant. It boasts delicate bubbles with a subtle bead on the surface of the glass. |

2010 | Agreeable and fine entry, well developed in the mouth. An important acidity that adds freshness. The flavours are mixed, aging with notes of ripe fruit and nuts. The end is wide and fruity. Pretty straw yellow with slight golden highlights. Fine bubbles highlight its lustre upon their arrival at the surface where they form a ring of light. Medium-high intensity. Touches of ripe white fruit with citrus aromas. |

2008 | Nice, smooth attack, good development in the mouth. Very well integrated fizziness. A lively acidity makes this cava very fresh. The notes from its ageing melt with notes of ripe fruit and dried fruit. Its finish is broad, fruity and complex. A pretty, pale straw yellow colour with light gold reflections. Fine bubbles highlight its radiance from where they start up to their arrival on the surface, where they form a light crown. Medium-high intensity, with aromas of ripe white fruit and citrus touches standing out on a background of dried fruit and pastries. |
