Characteristics Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium
Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium is a Tempranillo red wine with a little touch of Graciano produced by Marqués de Cáceres in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Marqués de Cáceres was founded in 1970 by Enrique Forner, who was already the owner of two Chateaux in Bordeaux. Marqués de Cáceres revolutionised the concept of wine in La Rioja, committing itself to a business model focused exclusively on quality.
The grapes for Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium come from vineyards with an average age of 70 years, including a 1.5 hectare plot of pre-phylloxera vines that are over 120 years old. The yields of the vineyards are very low, 18hl / ha., so they produce a very balanced and concentrated grape. The plots are at an altitude of between 400 and 650 metres and are located in the Rioja Alta, with another plot selected for Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium in the Rioja Alavesa, in terraces ranging in altitude from 380 to 700 metres. The soils are calcareous and alluvial-stony clay, optimal for cultivating the vine. The climate is temperate Atlantic, with well-differentiated seasons.
The grapes for Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium are harvested into 15kg boxes and kept in cold rooms for 2 days to slowly start and lengthen the fermentation, being able to extract more compounds without risks of oxidation. The grapes pass through two sorting tables, and ferment with indigenous yeasts at a maximum of 28 ºC. The fermentation lasts from 10 to 12 days and the maceration lasts up to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The total ageing in barrel is 18 to 20 months, and the wine then ends up spending 2 years of refining in the bottle before going on the market. There are 27,400 bottles produced, a total of 122 new French oak barrels.
Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium is an elegant wine with a French influence. It is rich in nuances and harmonious. Its name comes from Latin and means "delight", and it evokes what its developers want to transmit with it.
Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product
Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium 2014 has touches of balsam, toast and black cherry. On the palate it displays flavours of wild fruit, coffee and dark chocolate. It has a large volume and is silky because its tannins are softly polished.

Marqués de Cáceres
Marqués de Cáceres, and especially its founder, Enrique Forner, revolutionized the concept of Rioja wine in the 70s with a business model focused exclusively on quality. An obsession that, even today, remains one of the pillars on which the fifth generation of this illustrious wine family is established. A spirit based on continuous evolution, with a remarkable policy of investment in innovation and technology, but also far from the more or less passing trends. Currently, the wines from Marques de Cáceres are present in more than 120 countries. But, above all, they are the reality that interprets the personal challenge of its founder. His innate sensitivity and his unique vision of the future have made his wines take part in that secret complicity between science, nature, and pleasure, harvest after harvest.
