About Louis Latour Bâtard-Montrachet
Louis Latour is a winery in Burgundy with more than two centuries of history. It was founded in 1797 and is currently run by the eleventh generation of the same family. It owns about 50 hectares in several of the most famous denominations in the region and is associated with several grape growers who provide it with grapes. It produces wines that are known for their quality, and even has its own cooperage.
The vineyard for Louis Latour Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru lies between the picturesque municipalities of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, where some of the best white wines in the world are made. It has an average age of 40 years, is east-facing and its soils are gravel with a limestone base. It produces approximately 35 hl/ha and is harvested completely by hand.
Louis Latour Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru ferments in barrels and also undergoes malolactic fermentation so that the wine is not so acidic and so that it displays lactic and creamy notes. Once the wine has been fermented, it ages for 8 to 10 months in new French oak barrels with medium toasting.
Louis Latour Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a white wine from an area that meets the conditions to make the best Chardonnays in the world.
2015 | Louis Latour Bâtard-Montrachet 2015 is a wine that is intense and complex on the nose. It offers toasted aromas, and those of brioche and vanilla. On the palate it is a full, rounded wine, with a pleasant touch of vanilla and butter, and delicious notes of yellow fruit. It is a pleasant, beautiful, persistent and elegant wine. |
