Julien Guillot Mâcon Cruzille Cuvée Manganite is a natural, organic and biodynamic, barrel-aged red wine made by Clos des Vignes du Mayne with the Gamay variety in the AOC Mâcon-Cruzille denomination in Burgundy.
Clos des Vignes du Mayne comes from vineyards created by the Cluny abbey monks at the beginning of the 10th century in Cruzille, a town to the north of Mâcon (Burgundy). The land was acquired by the Guillot family in 1952, and they immediately began organic cultivation and became pioneers in the production of organic wines. Now run by the third generation, Julien Guillot has converted the 7 hectares into Demeter-certified biodynamic land and produces natural whites and reds that are well-known for their authenticity.
Julien Guillot Mâcon Cruzille Cuvée Manganite comes from vines planted in 1953 on a limestone plot with a high magnesium content. They are cultivated using ecological and biodynamic agriculture with no herbicides, pesticides or chemical products. The harvest is manual and the grapes are selected in the vineyard itself.
The Julien Guillot Mâcon Cruzille Cuvée Manganite grapes pass over the selection table and then undergo a semi-carbonic maceration with whole bunches in wooden vats and then the wine ages in wooden barrels. It is finally bottled without being clarified, filtered or adding sulphur.
Julien Guillot Mâcon Cruzille Cuvée Manganite is a delight that comes from a plot that has never been chemically treated. A silky, mineral and elegant wine that is perfect for those who love the Gamay variety.
