About Goliardo A Telleira
Goliardo a Telleira is a white wine that is produced by the winery Forjas del Salnés in the appellation of origin Rías Baixas.
Forjas del Salnés is a small family business who have been working in collaboration with the great winemaker Raúl Pérez, one of the most influential characters on the Spanish wine scene known for his work with varietal Mencía in the Bierzo and his multiple collaborations with a wide range of wineries in Spain and throughout the world.
Goliardo a Telleira is a wine brother to the famous Sketch, which carries the stamp of the great Raúl pérez.
The two wines share the same grapes, the same production but are separated at the end for commercial purposes. Goliardo a Telleira is sold under Forja del Salnés, whilst Sketch is sold under the Raúl Pérez.
For the production, Goliardo a Telleira is produced from the varietal Albariño. Grapes that originate from one single plot of land and the vines are aged between 60-80 years old which are planted next to the sea, a location that it is reflected in the saltiness of the wines from this winery.
Goliardo a Telleira is alcoholically fermented in large used barrels of 750 litres. The intention is that the barrels interfere the least possible amount for a pure personality of the wine.
The wine does not receive the malolactic fermentation process. Once finished, Goliardo a Telleira is bottled and submerged in the sea at a depth of 30 meters in special cages where the wine is aged for 3 months.
This is a great Albariño with an intriguing ageing method. If you would like to try this wine, please do so, but be quick! Only 900 of these were produced.
2013 | Goliardo a Telleira is a wine with good volume. Unctuous, complex, and great acidity levels. Balanced, harmonious. On the palate, there are mineral tones with salty memories and a bitter edge. A golden yellow colour with greenish hues. Slow falling tears. On the nose there is a predominance of white fruit. An appetising note of ripened fruit and citric undertones, light memories of the wood and an attractive mineral base. |
|
2012 | In the mouth, Goliardo a Telleira is a cool and creamy wine. There is a great presence of citrus fruit and some special saline moments. The aftertaste is long and persistent. Pale yellow with green hues. The nose shows white fruits such as pear or apple together with notes of white flowers, mountain herbs and some hints of citrus. |

2009 | Very tasty, silky and seductive wine with a good structure, with well integrated fruity and creamy notes. It has a glyceric and delicate mid palate and a fresh acidity. Its long finish leaves aromas of ripe white fruit and citrus.
A very good, round wine. Golden yellow colour, with a medium-high robe. Bright and glyceric. This wine releases a range of very nice, seductive aromas. Its notes of ripe white fruit and its floral aromas gain in intensity when the wine opens up. At the same time, some fresh notes of citrus and balsamic touches are noticed along with notes provided during its ageing (vanilla, bakery) on a subtle saline and mineral background. Very elegant wine. |
