Characteristics Leirana Albariño
Leirana Albariño is a white wine produced n the D.O Rías Baixas by the winery Forjas del Salnés.
Leirana Albariño is a small family winery located in Salnés (Pontevedra). One of the collaborators is the illustrious oenologist Raúl Pérez from Bierzo, one of the most authoritative voices on the Spanish wine scene.
Leirana Albariño is 100% produced from the variety Albariño. The grapes originate from a 4 hectares of old, 40-70 year old vines, planted in sandy granite soils.
For this traditional production, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once finalised the wine rests on its lees.
Before being released onto the market, the wine is lightly filtered.
Furthermore, Leirana Albariño is earning a great name for its self. The 2012 vintage was names by the New York Times as the best wine from the D.O Rías Baixas.

Wide and fresh on the palate. Light with tasty highlights of citrus notes. Acidity is very well balanced. Persistent finish.

The palate is very fresh with high acidity. Fruits are prominent together with mineral memories.

On the nose there are floral aromas, fruits, herbs and minerals.
Delicious and complex wine with a nice silky, smooth, very tasty and very fresh mid palate. The notes of fruit and flowers are more balanced than on the nose. Some balsamic notes are also felt. It has an excellent acidity and a very long and persistent finish which leaves subtle mineral sensations.

Forjas do Salnés is one of those wineries from Galicia with a rebellious and ground-breaking spirit, that seriously opted to make high-quality red wines in an area with a prevailing production of whites. The recovery of century-old vineyards of hardly known red varieties, such as Caíño, Espadeiro and Loureiro, in addition to the white Albariño from the old vineyard, are the base of their wines and a clear reflection of the terroir: wines full of freshness, with a perfect minerality, ample sensations and with a surprising evolution.
