Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon is a natural young red wine made by Jean foillard with the Gamay variety in Morgon, in the Burgundy region (France).
When Jean foillard took over his father’s domain in 1980, he was very clear about his plans for the vineyard and the winery. Against the tide of commercial trends, Foillard and three other winemakers in the area; Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Guy breton began a move back to their origins. This is a handmade production, made without any chemical products and with a firm commitment to minimal intervention.
Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon comes from old vines planted in the Côte du Py, a prestigious slope on the outskirts of Villié-Morgon. These vineyards have granite and shale soils with alluvials at the highest point. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture with old viticultural practices and no synthetic herbicides or pesticides. The harvest is carried out manually and late.
In the winery, the Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon grapes undergo a thorough selection process to pick out only healthy ones. Then the whole bunches undergo a spontaneous maceration with native yeasts, without being destemmed. Finally, the wine is bottled without chaptalisation or filtration and no sulphur is added.
Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon is a deep, structured and complex natural red wine that, despite its youth, has great aging potential.
