Baigorri Reserva is a red wine from Rioja produced by Baigorri Bodegas, a winery located in the town of Samaniego in Sierra de Cantabria. Jesus Baigorri was responsible for establishing this project and employed the architect Iñaki Aspiazu to create the winery.
The climate in the Rioja Alavesa is Mediterranean but with a strong influence from the Cantabrian Sea. The Sierra de Cantabria acts as a natural barrier protecting the area from cold northerly winds. This wine is a varietal Tempranillo (100%) from old vines with a low production. The cultivation of grapes is done sustainably, using traditional and modern means which respect nature. Harvesting is done by hand so as not to alter the taste and olfactory characteristics of the fruit. Regarding the process, after destemming and squeezing the grapes, they are macerated in stainless steel tanks with a closed lid and rotated using gravity.
Subsequently, malolactic fermentation occurs in new French oak barrels. Finally, Baigorri Reserva spends 18 months in new French oak barrels before aging. We recommend aerating an hour before enjoying this wine.
The palate is elegant, full of volume, fleshy and balanced. It is well marked with ripe tannins and good acidity. Long finish.
A deep cherry colour, clean and bright.
The nose has a high aromatic intensity. There are aromas of black fruit and stewed fruits together with spicy and milky notes.

In La Rioja, just as in other areas of our country with a long winemaking history, the word progress has a defined conviction and a strong ethical code. The word progress itself indicates a direction, and at that point when there is doubt about said direction, there is also a doubt regarding progress. Bodegas Baigorri was born with a conviction for modernity, and from its beginnings they have never doubted what they want, what they can offer and how to offer it. This is where its progression and its success comes from. Today, their wines are an example of the most recent values in La Rioja; a blend of terroir, fruit and elegance.
