Baigorri del Garage is a great red wine made by Bodegas Baigorri in Samaniego, a small town located in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa.
Bodegas Baigorri is a modern winery noted for the use of gravity throughout the development process, avoiding any mechanics, which helps preserve the qualities of the grape and wine. Baigorri del Garage is a single varietal Tempranillo. The grapes come from old vines of low production which are manually harvested.
Once in the winery, the grapes are selected grain by grain on sorting tables. Before starting the fermentation, a long maceration to try to extract all the aromas of the grape takes place.
Whilst the grapes are stemmed, fermentation takes place in wooden vats at a temperature of 28º. Once fermentation has finished, they are placed in a vertical press. The malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 20, the barrel has been aged and adds taste to the wine.
Baigorri Garage is a unique wine, there is limited production depending on the vintage. A tasty and elegant wine from Rioja.
The taste is a very flavoursome. Elegant tannins and memories of wood. Fruit with toasted oak.
A long aftertaste with fruit compote.
Dark cherry red colour with garnet rim.
The nose is a very elegant and complex. Prevalence of stewed fruit with herbs, bread, snuff, chocolate, liquorice, leather, dairy and smoked notes.
In La Rioja, just as in other areas of our country with a long winemaking history, the word progress has a defined conviction and a strong ethical code. The word progress itself indicates a direction, and at that point when there is doubt about said direction, there is also a doubt regarding progress. Bodegas Baigorri was born with a conviction for modernity, and from its beginnings they have never doubted what they want, what they can offer and how to offer it. This is where its progression and its success comes from. Today, their wines are an example of the most recent values in La Rioja; a blend of terroir, fruit and elegance.
