Wines from Extremadura

The wines from Extremadura, most of which are produced in Badajoz, make it one of the regions with the highest wine production in Spain. They have two denominations of origin: Ribera del Guadiana, with six subzones (Tierra de Barros, Matanegra, Ribera Alta, Ribera Baja, Cañamero and Montánchez) and Cava. The extensive inland areas contain a wide variety of terrains and climates. The wines from Extremadura are white wines, rosés, reds, pitarra wines (a type of wine with a higher alcohol content kept in earthen jars), and even cavas.
