About Weingut Seckinger Riesling Vom Löss Trocken

Jonas, Lukas and Philip. These three brothers form Weingut Seckinger, one of the most interesting wineries in the Palatinate (in southwest Germany). Since 2012 this trio has been committed to their biodynamic philosophy and wines. It was that year when they took over the family vineyards, founding the winery that is currently bringing so much joy. One reason to smile is their Weingut Seckinger Riesling Vom Löss Trocken, a dry single-variety white.

Weingut Seckinger Riesling Vom Löss Trocken starts life in Ruppertsberger Linsenbusch and Niederkirchener Schlossberg, two locations in southwestern Germany. This area is characterised by strong soils of clay and loess, also mixed with red sandstone. Work in these vineyards is entirely manual, with a commitment to biodynamics (the brothers realised very early on that this was the future). Working this way, knowledge of the vine is key, giving it time and letting it grow at its own pace, without rushing or slowing it down.

Weingut Seckinger Riesling Vom Löss Trocken is harvested and taken to the winery, where it is quickly and carefully pressed. The must is left to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks (where it will age for a few months). After this Weingut Seckinger Riesling Vom Löss Trocken is bottled without filtering or clarifying, reaching the maximum potency in natural winemaking. 

Currently, Weingut Seckinger is one of the most interesting wineries in Germany, where it has been demonstrated that the country’s young winegrowers come with desire and plenty of strength.
