Villa Wolf Pinot Noir is a monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine qualified as a VDP Pfalz and produced by Weingut Villa Wolf.
Weingut Villa Wolf is a hundred-year-old winery in the Pfalz area that was founded in 1756. It became a very prestigious winery in the 18th century and reached its peak in the 19th century. Years later it fell on hard times and was acquired in 1996 by Ernst Loosen, who currently runs it and has given it a new lease of life. Ernst Loosen also owns the Dr. Loosen winery.
The vineyards of Villa Wolf Pinot Noir are planted on sandy loams and are cultivated in accordance with German environmental regulations. They are harvested by hand in order to select the best bunches in the field.
Once in the cellar, the Villa Wolf Pinot Noir vintage is destemmed in its entirety and then cold macerated for a few hours. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks at a controlled temperature of 18 to 20ºC, a low temperature that makes it possible to preserve and favour the extraction of fresh and fruity aromas. Once half of the wine is fermented, it goes through a refining ageing of 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, and the rest remains in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit and freshness.
Villa Wolf Pinot Noir is a wine with fruity aromas, and is fresh, enveloping and exuberant on the palate.
