About Vignamato Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Ambrosia Riserva 2021

In Greek mythology, ambrosia was the exclusive sustenance of the Olympian gods, a divine substance that bestowed upon them the gift of immortality. When the Ceci family chose to name their most treasured wine after it, it wasn't out of arrogance, but because they were acutely aware that they possessed a white wine capable of defying the passage of time with superhuman elegance. This journey begins at Vignamato, a name that encapsulates a beautiful double tribute. On one hand, it references Amato, the grandfather who introduced the house's first wines to the local market, and on the other, it translates literally as "beloved vineyard." Today, with the fourth generation embodied by Alessandra, Andrea, and Francesco bringing a fresh and open perspective alongside their parents Maurizio and Serenella, the winery has established itself as the leading reference for DOCG Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva.

The secret of Vignamato Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Ambrosia Riserva lies within a tiny jewel of just 2.5 hectares of vineyard. This privileged plot, situated at 250 metres altitude in the Italian region of Le Marche, boasts clay soils that impart impressive structure and density. Here, the verdicchio grape is imbued with the area's temperate climate, constantly nurtured and refreshed by breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea. To create this wine, the Ceci family patiently waits for the grapes to reach a late harvest, allowing the berries to concentrate to the fullest and develop complex nuances before being harvested.

In the winery, the work is a perfect harmony between purity and sophistication. After an exceptionally gentle pressing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C in stainless steel tanks. From there, a meticulous division is applied to shape its character: 60% of the wine matures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the crisp freshness, vertical acidity, and typicity of the fruit, while the remaining 40% is aged in oak barrels for a period of 12 to 14 months to gain volume, creaminess, and a velvety texture. Following the blending and bottling, the wine rests for another 6 months in the winery's cellars before being released.

Upon uncorking Vignamato Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Ambrosia Riserva, we encounter a bottled masterpiece ready to become the star of the finest tables, demonstrating that a love for the land and family patience can bring forth a truly timeless white wine.
