Vignamato Terra delle Lame Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is a white wine aged on lees produced by Vignamato with the Verdicchio variety in the DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, in the Marche region (Italy).
Vignamato was born in 1940 when Umberto Ceci acquired a small amount of land in Battinebbia. Eighty years later, the next three generations have continued to pour their lives into the world of wine, combining local traditions with the use of new production techniques. This is great work that is forever attracting more and more attention around the world.
Vignamato Terra delle Lame Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico comes from one of the oldest parts of Marche. This vineyard lies 250 metres above sea level and has medium texture clay soils. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the Vignamato Terra delle Lame Verdicchio grapes from Castelli di Jesi Classico are gently pressed and the resulting must goes through a static decantation process before fermenting in stainless steel tanks. It stays there for two months on the lees and is left for another 2 months in the bottle before being sold.
Vignamato Terra delle Lame Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is a wine made with central Italy’s star variety that is characterised by the green tones it gives its wines, hence the name Verdicchio (‘greenish’ in Italian).
