Suertes del Marqués Las Suertes is a red wine produced by the Suertes del Marqués winery, a small family winery in the Valle de la Orotava, located on the island of Tenerife.
Suertes del Marqués Las Suertes is a blend with Listán Negro as the main variety and a small percentage of tintilla.
The Listán Negro is a very rare variety that is only found in the Canary Islands. However, the Listán Blanco is the name given in these islands to the Palomino, a very common variety in the Jerez area.
The grapes come from a small plot of no more than 0.75 hectares, planted with old vines over 90 years old at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level on volcanic rock soil under a native vegetation cover.
The name of the plot, El Ciruelo, take its name from the plum trees planted among the vines. All work is done manually in the vineyard. From land preparation to harvest. After a traditional treading, alcoholic fermentation takes place in open concrete cubes using the grapes and yeasts of the vineyard itself, applying light manual movements.
Once the fermentation is complete, a maceration stretching over 28 to 35 days is performed by applying daily movements.
Suertes del Marqués Las Suertes is aged with its lees in French oak barrels of 500 litres for a year. After aging, Suertes del Marqués El Ciruelo is bottled unfiltered. A subtle, elegant wine, marked by a special minerality due to the volcanic soil.
Suertes del Marques Las Suertes 2019 is a red wine with delicate aromas of peony flowers, notes of fresh red fruits and hints of spice. On the palate it is simple, refined and mineral. A dense textured wine with soft but present tannins. The finish is long and subtly bitter.
