Strohmeier Lys-Rod nº33 is an organic and natural rosé wine made with the Blauer Wildbacher variety by the Strohmeier winery in the Austrian denomination Weinland Österreich, in Styria.
In the west of Styria, known as the green heart of Austria, Franz and Christine Strohmeier run their own winemaking project. They have 8 hectares of organic vineyards and they make natural, delicate and very beautiful wines through minimal intervention. A wonderful winery well worth discovering.
Strohmeier Lys-Rod nº33 comes from a vineyard called Lestein that has gneiss soils with a high content of iron and silica. The vines are cultivated using ecological agriculture and biodynamic treatments, and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery the Strohmeier Lys-Rod nº33 grapes are destemmed and macerated with skins for 4 hours. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts in used wooden barrels. Three months later, the wine is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
Although this winery is famous for its white wines, it also works with small quantities of local Blauer Wildbache red grapes to make wines like this Strohmeier Lys-Rod nº33. A rosé that radiates fruitiness.
