About Sommos Reserva

Sommos Reserva is a wood-aged red wine produced by the Sommos Winery in the D.O. Somontano (Aragón) with the Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon red varieties.
 
Located in the heart of Somontano, Sommos is a spectacular new winery built around 355 hectares of their own vineyards. Their building is a glass and steel prism that is perfectly integrated into the environment and reaches down as far as 27 metres below ground to optimise every production process and make the most of a climate and soils with great winemaking potential. 
 
Sommos Reserva comes from a vineyard located in the Finca de Montesa. These vines are planted on sandy-loam soils with little organic matter and producing an average of 4,500 kg / ha. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out mechanically and separately at night to preserve all the characteristics of the grape. 
 
In the winery, the Sommos Reserva grapes pass over the selection table and vatting happens by gravity. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of between 26º and 28º, followed by a maceration of around 15 days for the Cabernet and Merlot varieties and 5 days for the Syrah variety. Following malolactic fermentation in cement tanks, the wine finally ages in 1- and 2-year-old French oak barrels for 12 months. After this, the final coupage is made.
 
Sommos Reserva is the result of a collaboration between tradition with innovation. A classic and elegant but also avant-garde way of interpreting the Somontano wine region and making it known around the world.

2021 Sommos Reserva 2021 presents a striking deep cherry red hue, transitioning to an appealing ruby tone at the rim of the glass. On the nose, it reveals a complex aromatic spectrum where aromas of dried fruits, underbrush, and a subtle spiced hint of cinnamon stand out, complemented by barrel notes reminiscent of a cigar box. On the palate, it offers a smooth entry, enveloping you with fine and rounded tannins that fill the mouth with a prolonged and pleasurable sensation. This wine captivates with its elegant structure and its ability to enchant through its balance and persistence.
2020

Sommos Reserva 2020 boasts a vibrant ruby-red hue with violet highlights. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas of dried fruits such as plums and raisins, complemented by a hint of dried leaves and a subtle presence of cinnamon and cigar box scent, thanks to its barrel aging. On the palate, this wine offers a smooth entry, distinguished by its fine and rounded tannins that provide a pleasant and prolonged texture. A full-bodied and elegant red wine that invites to be savoured sip by sip.                       
2015 Sommos Reserva is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of dried black fruits, notes of dried herbs and hints of sweet spices and wood. On the palate, the wine has a smooth entrance, fine, well-rounded tannins and a long, pleasant and slightly spicy finish.
