Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked had a dream: to produce quality wines in Israel and make their winery synonymous with excellence. This is how the Recanati Winery was born.
They started work in the year 2000. Now, almost 20 years later, they have achieved their dream, and are part of a group of small-scale producers, led by Golan Heights Winery, who are committed to modernising viticulture in Israel. Now, at the leading edge and always experimenting and innovating, Recanati wineries produce wines that express the Israeli terroir, like Recanati Petit Syrah Reserva, a red wine made in Galilee, northern Israel, combining Mediterranean varieties (like Syrah, Marselan and Cariñena) and the local climate, next to the Sea of Galilee, where the bodies of water have a cooling effect on the winery’s 4 vineyards which lie between 150-800 metres above sea level. Finally, the red earth soils, with limestone, clay and heavy valley soil add extra character to these wines that are vinified separately, depending on a particular area.
The Recanati Petit Syrah Reserva grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. From there they are moved by gravity (without using any type of pump) to the dolavs, plastic tanks used for fermentation. After the yeast has finished its work, Recanati Petit Syrah Reserva is rounded off with a year of aging in French oak barrels (25% new) and then bottled, without clarifying (only with a coarse filtration).
