Radikon Ribolla is an orange wine produced by Radikon, a legendary winery dedicated to this type of winemaking, single-variety Ribolla, aged in wood and produced in the IGT Venezia Giulia (Italy).
Radikon Ribolla is the result of experimentation started by Stanko Radikon, who had the courage to question the methods used and decided to find other alternatives, switching to a focus on tradition in 1995. Surrounded by skepticism, both from critics and consumers, the winemaker revived his grandfather's winemaking processes (based on a 7-day pre-fermentation maceration). This commitment to tradition has evolved to the present day, with his son Sasa at the helm, where the wine remains in contact with the grape skins for three months (with 3 and 4 pumping-overs per day).
It is also essential to highlight the importance of wood in Radikon Ribolla, a unique feature that is maintained from the harvest (carried out in wooden crates), to the spontaneous fermentation in wooden tanks or the 4 years of aging in barrels. Radikon Ribolla’s journey continues in the bottle where the wine, without being clarified or filtered, keeps developing without any chemicals.
Undoubtedly an interesting alternative way to discover orange wine.
