Pesquera MXI is a red wine barrel made by the Pesquera winery with the Tempranillo variety in the DO Ribera de Duero (Castilla y León).

Considered by the prestigious critic Robert Parker, to be one of the main Spanish producers, Alejandro Fernández hands over the Pesquera winery in Ribera de Duero to his granddaughters Inés Bocos Fernández, Elvira Bocos Fernández, Lucía Pascual Fernández, ángela Pascual Fernández and Elisa Martínez Martínez. A handover which arrives making strides with new approaches but without losing the tradition and wisdom of the teacher; their grandfather.

Pesquera MXI originates in a 200-hectare vineyard located in Monte Alto Pesquera in Valladolid (Castilla y León). They are 25-year-old vines planted in sandy loam soils 900 meters above sea level. Traditional agriculture is practiced and the harvest is carried out at the optimal moment of ripening.

In the winery, the Pesquera MXI grapes go through a rigorous selection process. They then ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and finally the wine ages in a very careful selection of American oak barrels with medium toasting for 14 months. Before going on the market, the wine rests for another 6 months in the bottle.

Pesquera MXI refers to a very momentous date for the reconquest, the year 1011, when the Caliph Suleymán al-Mustain delivered land from the Ribera del Duero to the Count of Castilla. It also owes its name to the origin of its grapes, lots 10 and 11 of the Finca Familiar Pesquera. A red wine which, although young and fresh, has a lot to say.

Vega Sicilia continued to maintain and grow the myth in the entire world for decades, other wineries, with masterly red wines, fino wines and long-aged wines, awakened the passion of the most expert and renowned international tasters. One of the greatest examples is Alejandro Fernández. The appearance of his Tinto Pesquera in 1975 was a revolution in the world of wine in Ribera. Some of the wines resemble them who made them, and in this case, they are quite right. Tinto Pesquera and Alejandro Fernández have in common a resounding personality, a dazzling style, open, convincing from the first glass. Capable of giving everything it has now and also gaining complexity and nuances over the year
s, without losing its original character. Without any doubt, Pesquera wines have a style that is both special and personal. Some critics, like renowned Robert Parker, have placed them among the best wines in the world.
Ribera del Duero wine is one of the most prestigious wines in Spain. Red wines made with Tinto Fino variety grapes, with highly complex aromas, fine on the palate and with a great storage capacity. The wines of Ribera del Duero present a perfect balance between the vividness of the fruit and the refinement of the wood, which has led to them obtaining a well-deserved international acclaim.
