Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a red wine from La Rioja produced by Bodegas Muga. This wine is a blend in which Tempranillo (80%) dominates, accompanied by Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano (which together represent 20%).
The grapes come from vineyards located in the highest part of the winery. They grow on calcareous clay and alluvial soils.
The grapes used to produce Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva are always the last to enter the winery. Thus they have reached optimum ripeness and have passed a first selection in the vineyard. Having undergone the second process of selection in the winery, the grapes are fermented in oak tanks of 10,000 kilos without any temperature control or yeast.
The maceration, depending on the circumstances, can be prolonged for 20 days. Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva is then aged for one year in oak tanks of 16,000 litres, after a miniumum 36 months aging in oak barrels, it spends another 36 months in bottle.
Before marketing, Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva passes through a process of clarification with fresh egg white.
Bodegas Muga is located in the neighborhood of La Estación, in Haro, a town with a historic winemaking tradition.
Bodegas Muga has its own cooperage, something very rare nowadays. Its oak wood is used in the winemaking process.

Muga is one of those few wineries in Rioja that has managed to combine the most absolute family tradition with a renewed vision of the future. This has allowed them to maintain the unique character and personality of their wines. In addition, it is one of the few wineries in La Rioja that uses oak wood from its own cooperage in all the stages of the production and the ageing processes. An exemplary winery, and one of the most prestigious ones in La Rioja. Since the very beginning, harvest after harvest, it makes wine with the family seal: “Muga style”.
