About Mountain Blanco Seco

There are wines that do not originate in vineyards, but on slopes that seem to defy logic. In the Axarquía of Málaga (Andalusia, Spain), viticulture becomes a matter of extreme balance: vines that ascend the mountain as if each cluster were a small triumph over gravity. There, Telmo Rodríguez revived a forgotten landscape to restore its liquid voice, crafting Mountain Blanco Seco, a white wine that embodies effort, altitude, and reclaimed memory.
 
From the steepest slopes of Málaga, under the protection of the DO Sierras de Málaga, this white emerges at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level. Its roots delve into schist soils, ancient dark slates that impart a unique mineral strength to the vineyard. The old Moscatel de Alejandría vines grow as bush vines on impossible inclines, ripening under the southern sun yet refreshed by the altitude of the mountains. The cultivation is entirely artisanal and polycultural, sharing space with olive trees in an environment where machinery has no place.
 
In the winery, the process is pure living craftsmanship. The clusters are handpicked, undergo meticulous selection of each grape, and are pressed in oil presses with capacha (a kind of round esparto fibre filter). The must ferments spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts, striving to retain all the wild purity of the mountain. After a gentle resting period, the wine acquires a silky texture, a crisp volume on the palate, and a clean, aromatic finish.
 
And then you understand: this is not a white wine designed to accompany the landscape; it is the landscape itself captured in a glass. Fresh, untamed, and with an energy that only arises when everything requires a bit more effort than usual, it leaves a sensation that cannot be explained, only recognized. And before you know it, you're already contemplating a return to that place where wine and man risk everything with each harvest.
