About Mas Collet

Mas Collet is a red wine from the D.O Montsant produced by Celler de Capçanes. This wine is a blend of Cariñena (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Garnacha (15%), Syrah (2,5%) and Merlot (2,5%), these are all local varieties found in the region.

Celler de Capçanes is located in Capçanes, Tarragona and has the privilege to be surrounded by many different types of soils: chalk, slate and clay. The uniqueness of the soils are represented in its wines.

The harvest is completed by hand between the months of September and October. The various varieties are vinified separately.

In the winery, Mas Collet is fermented at a controlled temperature between 26-28ºC. Once the must has been obtained, Mas Collet is subsequently macerated for 8-16 days. Before being aged, Mas Collet is malolactically fermented in tanks first then oak barrels.

The last stage, Mas Collet rests for 9 months in American and French oak barrels aged between 1-5 years old, medium to lightly toasted.

Before being released on the market, Mas Collet rests for an additional year in the bottle.

Mas Collet 2023 unfurls an enticing cherry red hue with garnet highlights that beckon one to uncover its secrets. On the nose, it beguiles with a rich medley of ripe fruits such as plums and blackberries, accompanied by the exotic presence of black pepper and subtle hints of cocoa and vanilla that lend depth, courtesy of its barrel aging. Upon tasting, its balance is striking, with smooth tannins that envelop the palate and a refreshing acidity that enlivens each sip. Mas Collet 2021 is a juicy red wine, intense cherry-red in colour with violet hues. Ripe cherry, blueberries and some soft hints of oak are the main aromas found on the nose. The palate is smooth, with good tannins and medium body. Long finish.

2009 Good and powerful attack and a long very tasty fresh and dry mid palate. Fleshy fruit nuanced creamy. Good acidity and long finish.

Intense cherry red colour with purple edges. Clean and bright wine with a medium robe.

Intense aromas with notes of juicy red fruit at the beginning that give way to a lot of notes of ripe black fruits mixed with soft smoky and spicy armas, typical of the oak. Light mineral notes are also noticed.
2008 Fleshy, concentrated wine. It presents the fruit and oak well fused together with touches of licorice and toasted. Tasty wine, fat and long.

Dark cherry color tones with touches of copper.
