D.O. Montsant (Catalonia)
Mas Picosa Ecológico is a young red wine made in Montsant by the Celler de Capçanes winery. Mas Picosa Ecológico is made from a blend of Grenache, Merlot, Mazuelo and Tempranillo.
The grapes come from vineyards planted at an altitude of between 150 and 450 metres, on clay soils and granite terraces.
The vines are grown following organic farming, certified by the CCPA (Catalan Council of Organic Farming).
The harvest is done manually and the vinification of each of the varieties is carried out separately.
First a maceration of the grapes is carried out for 8-10 days.
Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of 24-28ºC.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine is then aged for four months in tanks.
Before bottling, Mas Picosa Ecológico is stabilised cold and a light filtering applies. A young red wine from Montsant, ecologically certified.
