About M. Chapoutier Côte Rôtie Les Bécasses
M. Chapoutier Côte Rôtie Les Bécasses is a monovarietal Syrah red wine produced by Maison Chapoutier, from the AOC Côte-Rôtie, in the Rhone Valley.
Maison Chapoutier is an old winery in the Rhone Valley founded in 1808. It produces high quality wines and has received great recognition by critics in recent years. Chapoutier has managed to get nine wines awarded with one hundred Parker points in the same vintage, that of 2015. He has also been one of the first in the Rhone area to cultivate its vineyards following the principles of biodynamics.
The vineyards for M. Chapoutier Côte Rôtie Les Bécasses are located on slopes facing south and southeast. The harvest is performed manually, and once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete vats. During the fermentation a daily batonnage is performed to extract colour and tannins from the skins. The fermentation does not exceed a temperature of 33 ºC. Depending on the vintage, the wine is not uncovered until 3 or 4 weeks after fermentation. Lastly, 80% of the wine is aged for 14 to 16 months in brand new French oak barrels, and the rest is aged in stainless steel tanks so that the fruit ends up being even more present in the final wine.
M. Chapoutier Côte Rôtie Les Bécasses is a wine made with Syrah grapes that has a pleasant floral and fruity character accompanied by spicy and balsamic touches. A wine that is more silky and elegant than powerful and generous.
