Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco is an organic white wine made with the Códega do Larinto, Gouveio, Rabigato, Verdelho and Viosinho native varieties in the DOC Douro in Portugal by Luis Seabra.
There are many projects Luis Seabra has going on in the prestigious Niepoort winery. This winemaker has fiercely championed the most authentic expression of Douro and Porto and, now, in his own winery, he continues this fight in his own way. He works with native vineyards, respectful agriculture and minimal intervention winemaking, which has allowed him to create wines with brilliant authenticity that are known around the world.
Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco is made from unique vineyards in the Douro Valley that are over 30 years old. These vineyards are planted with a blend of native white varieties in schist soils at an altitude of 650-700 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using organic agriculture, with no chemical products and the grapes are harvested manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
When the grapes reach the winery, they are carefully selected and gently pressed. The resulting Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts and with hardly any sulphur in different sized used barrels and stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in used oak barrels for 12 months.
Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco is a cuvée of native varieties from one of the winemakers who best knows the characteristics of the Douro Valley. It is perfect for those who love powerful and concentrated white wines.
