Les Prunes is a rosé wine made with the native mandó variety by Celler del Roure in the D.O. Valencia.
Celler del Roure is a family winery owned by Pablo Calatayud that was founded in 1996 in the town of Moixent (Valencia). After its two star wines, Maduresa and Les Alcusses, they began a new project under the name Les Filles d'Amàlia, which shows off a native variety that has been little-known up to now: mandó.
Les Prunes is the first wine from this new initiative. This is a rosé wine made with the mandó grape variety. A very productive variety that is managed using specific vine growing methods. The grape is harvested just before optimum ripeness, with a potential alcohol content of 12%.
Les Prunes is made like a white wine. The vintage is gently pressed and the free-run juice only has a small amount of contact with the skins to give it a subtle pink color. It ferments using native yeasts and ends the process on its own lees in jars for 6 months.
Les Prunes is a juicy rosé wine that evokes all the freshness of the Mediterranean.
