About La Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón

Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is a red wine from the DO Calatayud, prepared by Project Garnacha in Spain. This is a personal project of Raúl Acha that relies on researching and selecting varietal Grenache from ancient vineyards that best express the essence of this variety.

La garnacha, which come from the Garnacha Project in Spain, produce wines with fruity, fresh and easy drinking character, this fits well with the likes of new consumers.

Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is made from ancient vineyards in the region of Calatayud, at the western end of Aragon. In a wild and barren landscape, continental climate with extreme temperatures, very low in winter and very high in summer, and where rainfall is scarce. An ideal climate to produce excellent garnacha.

Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is made from grapes from old grenache vines planted in glass trellises in 1940.

The harvest is done manually during the second week of October as autumn is very favourable for maturation.

Fermentation at less than 25 degrees takes place in concrete tanks of 15,000kg, here they marinate for 17 days. The aging lasts 10 months and is conducted in French oak barrels.

Ruby red with hints of garnet and purple. Expressive and pristine.

Robust with nuances of oak. Rich reminiscences of red fruit.
2011

Good entry, firm. Roasted aromas, cocoa and berries. Pleasant and ripe tannins express the performance of this old vineyard.

Intense deep ruby red, garnet rim and bruised reflection. Clean and expressive.

Intense, projecting the nuances of aging for 10 months in French oak barrels (toasted notes and cocoa). Presence of red fruit.

2010 Good attack and good initial sensations. This wine shows its liveliness from the very beginning. Its tannins, its acidity and the notes of fruit are perfectly balanced, resulting in a very round set. An easily enjoyable wine.

Intense and deep ruby red colour with maroon edges and purple reflections. Clean and bright wine with dense quite slow-falling tears.

Good aromatic intensity. Its outstanding nuances of its 10-month ageing in French oak barrels (toasted aromas, notes of roasted coffee and cocoa) give way to red fruit which little by little becomes increasingly intense.
2009 Very nice, intense and warm attack which gives way to very well integrated and balanced notes of fruit and wood. It has a very tasty, sweet, wide and well-bodied mid palate. It shows a good acidity and ripe tannins and its good finish leaves sweety aromas of fruit.

Intense cherry red colour with purple reflections. Clean and bright wine with good tears.

This wine shows an explosion of flavours that emerges in very harmoniously forming a highly seductive aromatic set. Its notes of creamy and sweet spices are released along with a smooth toasted aromas, with fresh notes of ripe red fruit that gains in intensity with the time. The soft touches of herbs and minerals form a good background.
