About La del Terreno Monastrell
La del Terreno Monastrell 2018 is a natural red wine made by La del Terreno in the D.O. Bullas (Murcia) with the native Monastrell variety.
La del Terreno Monastrell is the personal project of Julia Casado, a young winemaker who, having travelled and worked in different wineries around the world, settled in Bullas (Murcia), having been fascinated by the characteristics of the Monastrell variety or “La del Terreno”, as it is known locally. An independent, strong and courageous producer who started this project on her own, with minimal intervention and no agrochemicals. This work results in incredibly expressive natural, modern wines.
La del Terreno Monastrell comes from old vineyards in the Lavia and Burete mountains, Murcia. A total of 3.5 hectares of Monastrell vines planted on sandy loam soils, aged over 50 years old and lying 800 metres above sea level. Using respectful viticulture, cultivation is completely organic and the harvest is carried out manually in 15 kg boxes.
In the winery, the La del Terreno Monastrell grapes macerate for a short time and then ferment in cement tanks without being destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts. It is then aged for 11 months in cement tanks. It is finally bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphur.
La del Terreno Monastrell is a natural red wine that aims to show what wines were like before, without additives or additions that can mask the intrinsic characteristics of a great Monastrell grape.
2020 | La del Terreno Monastrell 2020 is a succulent red wine. On the nose, it boasts a robust fruity essence, complemented by subtle hints of leather and damp hide. The palate is full-bodied, with gentle, powdery tannins and a dry finish. |
|
2018 | La del Terreno Monastrell 2018 is a juicy red wine with very fruity and spicy aromas. On the palate it is light, fresh and very flavoursome. On the mid-palate it is very persistent with exquisite acidity. |
