About Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon
Based on the premise that wine is the bridge that connects all the little details of a memorable meal, the Jordan Wine Estate has been making wines from classic varieties growing in the different soils and slopes of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa, since 1970. The founders, Gary and Kathy Jordan, are committed to respecting the history of an estate that dates back more than 300 years, with the quality of the wine getting better and better every year. As Gary himself explains “every harvest, every meal and every tasting must be better than the last.” This whole philosophy earned them recognition by the IWSC, the International Wine and Spirits Competition, as the best winery in 2015.
With spectacular views, this wine estate combines the natural assets of the environment with innovative management. A perfect synergy that is reflected in Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon, a red wine that comes from 20-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines located on hillsides 200-240 metres above sea level and influenced by sea breezes from the Indian and Atlantic oceans.
In the winery, the Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon wine ferments in overhead stainless steel fermenters and macerates for a long period of time on the skins. It is then pressed and racked into barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place. Finally the wine is aged for 18 months in new and used French oak barrels before being lightly filtered and bottled.
Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon is a very good example of how well the variety and terroir works together. The perfect synergy between soul and soil.
2018 |
Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of black forest fruits, bramble notes and hints of toasted tobacco. On the palate it is smooth, silky and balanced. A wine with integrated acidity, fruity tannins and a spicy finish. |
