Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Antonin is a biodynamic red wine made in the AOC Bourgogne, in Burgundy (France). This is an organic, wood-aged Pinot Noir made by one of the most admired winemakers in the area, Jérôme Galeyrand.
Although not from a wine-growing family nor from Burgundy, Jérôme Galeyrand really loves this wine-growing area. Having spent a couple of years working at Domaine Alain Burguet in Gevrey-Chambertin, he decided to set up his own project with a small 0.05 hectare plot of vines. His work is based on three fundamental things: great terroir, remarkable vines and utmost respect. He now owns about 5 hectares of vineyards in the Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Marsannay, village Côte de Nuits and Bourgogne denominations and makes great Burgundy wines that are sought after by the most savvy connoisseurs.
Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Antonin comes from plots located in the lower part of Chambolle, Brochon and Gilly-les-Citeaux. These vines are genetically high-quality and planted in clay-calcareous soils. The vines are ecologically and biodynamically cultivated. Only copper, wettable sulphur, infusions and natural products are used and all work takes into account the lunar cycles.
Once the grapes have been manually harvested, Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Antonin is vinified in the small winery on the winemaker’s property in Saint Philibert (Gevrey-Chambertin). The grapes are first destemmed and then they undergo a 3 to 5 day maceration and ferment with native yeasts for 18-20 days. The wine then ages for 16 months in oak barrels, a third of which are new. The wine is then bottled without clarifying or filtering and only adding minimal sulphites.
Made by one of the most renowned producers in Burgundy and named after one of his sons, Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Antonin is an agile but not at all boring wine. A wine with impressive precision that makes it a high-end Burgundy.
Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Antonin 2018 is a smooth red wine with delicious aromas of pink flowers, hints of cherries and delicate notes of tea leaves. On the palate it is light, crisp and flavoursome. A wine with marked acidity, a silky texture and a pleasant finish with subtle hints of a cigar box.
