Frontonio La Loma & Los Santos is a white wine coupage of the Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca varieties, produced by Bodegas Frontonio as a Vino de la Tierra de Valdejalón, in Aragón, Spain.
Frontonio La Loma & Los Santos is made with the Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo varieties from the La Loma and Los Santos plots, which is where the name comes from. The vineyards are dominated by clay-calcareous and slate soils and they lie at an altitude of 480 to 610 metres above sea level. The vines are more than 45 years old. The harvest is carried out manually and the resulting wine is aged for 12 months in demi-muid barrels, inside an old cave.
Run by Fermando Mora, Spanish Master of Wine, Bodegas Frontonio works with traditional vineyards that are cultivated in a sustainable way with the aim of producing completely artisan wines that are full of authenticity.
The name, Frontonio comes from the holy martyr of the same name who was beheaded and whose head was found upstream, a symbol of the spirit of the maker who is always going against the current.
Frontonio La Loma & Los Santos is a unique wine, of very limited production and full of delicacy and distinction.
Bodegas Frontonio was created in 2008 by three friends from Aragón, Fernando Mora, aspirant Master of Wine, Mario López, oenologist from Bodegas Borsao, and Francisco Latasa, lawyer and international trade expert. Fernando started making wines in his parents’ garage. Shortly after, his two friends joined him on this fabulous journey.
