About Finca San Martín
Finca San Martín is a red wine from the Rioja region. It is produced by the Torre de Oña winery and it made using only Tempranillo grapes, the trademark grape of the region.
The grapes used to make this wine come from vineyards situated around the winery in Páganos-Laguardia, in the Alava province.
The grapes are then harvested manually and are transported to the winery in boxes, this is to ensure that the grapes arrive in the best condition possible.
The process of fermentation, alcoholic and malolactic, are carried out out in stainless steel tanks that have a capacity of 20,000kgs.
Finca San Martín then ages for 16months in new American oak (60%) and 2 year old French oak (40%) barrels. During this time, 3 rackings are performed.
The Torre de Oña winery was founded in 1985 by Leandro Vázquez, a buisnessman with a passion for viticulture. In 1995, the winery became part of the La Rioja Alta group, one of the largest wine producers in Spain
