About Ferraton Samorëns

Ferraton Samorëns is a young red wine made by Ferraton Père & Fils in the French denomination of AOC Côtes du Rhône, in the Rhône using the Garnacha Tinta, Cinsault and Syrah varieties.
 
Founded by Jean Örens Ferraton in 1946, Ferraton Père & Fils is one of the iconic wineries in the heart of the Rhône. The project had new life breathed into it when Michel Ferraton, the owner's son, took over in 1998 and enlisted the help of family friend Michel Chapoutier. This new era for the winery went very well, culminating in 2006 when the latter became the owner. Currently the winery has more than 100 wines awarded over 90 points by Parker and Wine Spectator.
 
Ferraton Samorëns comes from vineyards located between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Montélimar, planted on alluvial, clay-calcareous and gravelly soils. These vines lie in the southern part of the Rhone, enjoying the sun and humidity of a typically Mediterranean climate. The harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness. 
 
Once the Ferraton Samorëns grapes have been destemmed and crushed, fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks with cap plunges and a 15 day maceration. Then the wine goes through a short aging process in stainless steel and concrete tanks. 
 
A most affordable offering from Ferraton Père & Fil, Ferraton Samorëns is a fruity and spicy red wine that is the perfect introduction to the great wines of the Rhône.
 
2020

Ferraton Samorëns 2020 is a juicy red wine. Simple notes of strawberries, crushed stones and citrus fruits on the nose. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, fresh and refreshing. Very energetic. 
2018 Ferraton Samorëns 2018 is a juicy red wine with wonderful aromas of ripe red fruit, herbaceous notes and hints of spice. On the palate it is silky, light and very fruity. A wine with good structure and a mineral background.
