Dominio de Es Viñas Viejas de Soria is a red wine produced in the D.O. Ribera del Duero by the winery Dominio de Es, in San Esteban de Gormaz, Soria.
After 10 years as a technical manager in Dominio de Atauta, Bertrand Sourdais starts this personal project in Ribeira del Duero. Dominio de Es is formed by 4 vineyard areas (La Mata, Llanos del Almendro, Camino Olmillos and Valdegatiles) with pre-phylloxera vines on sandy soils, located at approximately 1000 metres of altitude.
The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and, in the winery, they aim for a friendly and steady production, without the tannins that Bertrand Sourdais reflected in their wines some years ago. Ageing for long periods in large used barrels to give value to the finesse of the terroir where these fabulous wines are made.
Dominio de Es Viñas Viejas de Soria is a wine made from Tinto Fino that comes from vines that are over 100 years old. It has a small percentage of Albillo that is added to it in the vineyard itself. They are manually harvested and fermented with 50% of the stems at a low temperature for 17 days. Wine is aged for 20 months in double-use Romanée Conti wine barrels (Burgundy).
