About Doix

Doix is a red wine produced by the winery Mas Doix, in Poboleda (Tarragona), within D.O.Q. Priorat.

Mas Doix was created in 1998 when the families Doix and Llagostera decided to continue with the winemaking tradition that began in 1850 and that was interrupted by phylloxera. After the phylloxera, in 1902 Grenache and Carignan were again planted, but these were sent to be vinified in the cooperative of Poboleda.

Currently, the whole vinification process is carried out in its facilities. It is a careful and meticulous process, from the selection of the grape in the vineyard to the ageing of all its wines in French oak barrels.

All the vineyards are located between 350 and 600 metres of altitude. Protected by two natural barriers, El Montsant and La Serra de Molló, the vineyards benefit from the cool breeze that enters through the northwest, positively slowing down the ripening process.

Doix is a red wine made with Carignan and Grenache from ancient vineyards planted on slopes of licorella (slate) at an altitude between 350 and 500 metres.

Harvesting is carried out manually, placing the grapes in 10-kg boxes, and selecting the grapes in the winery, on a double selection table. Each plot is turned into wine individually. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel deposits with temperature control, and the maceration is done by sinking the cap. Once the alcoholic fermentation has ended, it goes through the ageing process for 16 months in French oak barrels of extra fine grain wood. This wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering.



 

2016

Doix 2016 is an intense, powerful and mature wine. The powerful nose stands outs, with aromas of ripe red fruit and elegant toasted notes from the barrel. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with a sweet entry, a broad mid-palate and a long and pleasantly fresh finish. A complex wine with a lot of personality.
2012 Enduring and succulent. Refined and subtle, it reveals nuances of dark fruit.

Cherry red with purplish highlights.

Crisp and appealing. Pleasant hints of blueberries stand out.
2010 Upon tasting, it delivers a palatable experience with well-balanced acidity, a slight bitterness, and mature tannins.

It boasts a cherry hue with a garnet rim.

The bouquet is an intricate medley of sweet spices, ripe fruit, red berries, and toasted notes.
2008 Superb! A pleasure! A wine with a bulky and embracing attack and a surprisingly fresh, soft and silky mid palate. Very balanced wine, with very nice and tasty tannins (even if they are still noticeable) and a special refreshing acidity. It is very long and persistent and leaves a subtle mellow aftertaste.  An inviting and very enjoyable wine!

Intense and deep purple colour. Clean and bright wine with a high layer and elegant, dense, slow-falling tears.

Very intense and expressive, concentrated and complex aromas. Its abundant notes of berries in compote are mixed with the refined toasted aromas and the subtle notes of spices. An elegant and intense mineral background rounds out this absolutely pleasant and harmonious set.
2006 Ripe fruit flavor with light end.

Cherry color.

Aromas of black fruit, licorice and cocoa mineral background.
