Characteristics Chivite Legardeta Finca de Villatuerta Syrah
Chivite Legardeta Finca de Villatuerta Syrah is a red wine produced by Grupo Chivite, in Villatuerta, D.O. Navarra.
Grupo Chivite has its origins in Bodegas Julián Chivite, a very old winery that dates right back to 1647. Currently, the four brothers direct the company. The family controls more than four hundred hectares. One hundred and fifty of these hectares are dedicated mainly to the cultivation of Tempranillo, which reaches sixty percent. The rest is dedicated to Grenache and the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. These are equally distributed and with the suitable clones for the microclimate of the farm.
Another range by Chivite is the line of wines made with grapes from vineyards located on the hillsides of the Legardeta farm, in the municipality of Villatuerta.
Chivite Legardeta Finca de Villatuerta Syrah is a wine made with Syrah and a small amount of Grenache from the Legardeta farm, located in Villatuerta, in the subarea of Tierra Estella.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. Once they arrive at the winery, the grapes are selected and vatted by gravity into stainless steel tanks of 20,000 kg. After a light maceration, the wine ferments at a controlled temperature. Once the alcoholic fermentation and the malolactic fermentation are finished, the wine is driven by gravity to French oak barrels, where it will remain for 14 months.
