César Príncipe 2022 exhibits a deep cherry hue that hints at its robust character. About César Príncipe

César Príncipe is the flagship wine of Bodegas César Príncipe and is named after the owner's father, as a tribute to a lifetime dedicated to vineyard work. A family story that finds its best expression in this Tempranillo red wine.
 
To craft it, the winery selects some of its most exceptional vineyards, located in Fuensaldaña, Valladolid. These comprise over five hectares of vines aged between 70 and 100 years, planted on gentle slopes with very low yields. Beneath these ancient plants lie deep clay and sandy soils, covered by a generous layer of pebbles. A landscape that is integral to the identity of the DO Cigales and which allows for grapes of great concentration and depth.
 
Harvesting is done manually with meticulous selection of the grape clusters. Once at the winery, the grapes for César Príncipe undergo cold maceration for three days before beginning fermentation at a controlled temperature. They then remain in contact with their skins for another 20 days, with gentle pump-overs to progressively extract their structure. The malolactic fermentation is divided between stainless steel and new barrels.
 
César Príncipe completes its production with 14 months of ageing in 225-litre barrels, primarily French oak. Only a portion of these barrels are new, ensuring that the wood complements the wine without overshadowing the fruit's personality and the character of the old vines.
 
The result is a Tempranillo of great elegance, finesse, and depth, built upon the natural concentration of very mature vines. A wine that represents the evolution of a family tied to the vineyard and has become one of the eminent names of the DO Cigales, earning its place on the menus of some of the most prestigious restaurants.

2021

César Príncipe 2021 is an expressive and powerful red wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of strawberries and raspberries intermingled with hints of toffee, spices, balsamic notes, and liquorice. On the palate, it offers a broad and lingering passage, with firm, integrated, and mature tannins. Its concentrated profile makes it rich in nuances and it evolves interestingly in the glass.

César Príncipe 2017 is an exquisitely refined and nuanced red. Olfactorily, it is intricate and articulate, adorned with spicy and mineral hints, alongside nuances of ripe black fruit. On the palate, it is graceful, well-structured, and has a meaty texture. It's enticingly sweet. Utterly sophisticated. Concludes with an extensive and enduring finish. 
2012 Spacious and elegant. Fruity and with good acidity. It is fleshy, tasty and fine. Highlights of tannins and a good, persevering, long end.
