DOC Barbera d'Alba
(Piedmont)
Cascina Fontana Dolcetto d'Alba is a red wine of the Dolcetto variety produced by the Italian winery Cascina Fontana in DOC Dolcetto d'Alba (Piedmont).
Cascina Fontana is a small family winery located in the hills of Le Langhe in Italian Piedmont. A privileged winemaking place where Mario Fontana, the sixth generation of the family, continues to make his classic wines with the maximum expression of his soils.
Cascina Fontana Dolcetto d'Alba comes from the family vineyards located on the slopes of Las Langhe. Native vines which grow on the typical soils of the area, composed of gray and white loam. Responsible agriculture is practiced to achieve maximum expression of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
Cascina Fontana Dolcetto d'Alba is the first wine Cascina Fontana makes each year. Typical for the area, it’s vinified in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and left to age for up to a year. It’s finally bottled without being filtered, clarified or sulphites being added.
Cascina Fontana Dolcetto d'Alba is a wine to enjoy relatively young, but which also knows how to age for more than four or five years. Freshness and vitality at its best.
